You can buy more shares in your home and progress to buying the property outright. This is called ‘staircasing’.

Staircasing can take place at any time after the first 12 months of occupation by the original leaseholder.

If you decide to staircase, you will be responsible for any costs involved in valuing your home. The valuation will be carried out by an independent RICS valuer. Any improvements you have made will be disregarded in the valuation.

We will let you know how much the extra share will cost in writing and if you go ahead, your rent will be reduced accordingly once the process is complete.

If you want to staircase, send your request in writing to us at:

Futures Housing Group
Asher House
Asher Lane Business Park

or email it to

You will have three months to complete the purchase of the further share. If it takes longer for any reason, a new valuation will be necessary and this is something you will have to pay for.
